Kya

My husband and I were considering acquiring our very first pet, and we knew adoption was the way we wanted to go. We stopped at Petco one night after seeing an Adoption Event sign outside, just expecting to browse and see what organizations were there. Instead, Kya melted our hearts as she nuzzled our hands through her cage, and we instantly knew that we wanted her to be a part of our lives. We picked her up the next morning and took her home. We leanred that Kya was rescued by a no-kill shelter in the area from another organization that had found her and was going to put her down. She is partially blind from previous neglect/abuse, but that doesn’t stop her from being the life of the party and the princess of the house. She loves to play, has a typical tortie attitude, and runs to the door to greet anyone who comes over. She brings smiles to mine and my husband’s faces every day, and we’re so thankful we adopted her when we did. The no-kill shelter that had rescued her was raided only a month later (on false charges), and many of their cats were taken away from them and put down rather than being given a chance at finding a forever home. I thank Petco and all the animal shelters out there for what you do – animal adoption is always the best option!
